Knowing something about the oil filter is very important because it is a small thing but it has a lot of impact on the performance of the bike.

So we know how engine oil protects our bike engine. For example-

  1. Lubricate all parts of the engine,
  2. Keeping the engine cool,
  3. To prevent piston ring corrosion,
  4. Retention of broken metal particles in the engine
  5. Friction reduction etc.

The oil filter directly helps the engine oil to perform these tasks.

The oil filter in the engine works just like the waiters in the restaurant, they supply food to every table in the restaurant and the oil filter supplies oil to every part of the engine.

Oil Filter: An oil filter is a type of filter that continuously filters engine oil.

FILTERING_PROCESS:

Oil filter is generally like a can. It has filtering elements inside. They are made of synthetic fibers. Engine oil enters the filter directly from the engine block. Where the engine oil from the cubic hole in the base plate goes directly to the filter through the pump and the oil is pressurized through the filter media and re-enters the engine.

Oil filters can be of many types

Types of oil filter:

The shape or type of oil filter is of many types. For example-

  1. Mechanical
  2. Cartridge and spin-on
  3. Magnetic
  4. Sedimentation
  5. Centrifugal

6.High efficiency (HE)

Bikes such as Gixxer Fzs, RTR, R15 etc. have mechanical oil filters which need to be changed after a few days.

Again the Pulsar (DTS I) has a magnetic filter which is usually next to the clutch plate and doesn’t need to be changed, again it should be reasonable enough.

Also Hunk, Trigger, CBZ, CBR etc. bikes have oil strainer instead of filter which should be cleaned every 10 thousand.

Filter’s_function:

A good filter retains the quality of the oil and the small metal parts mixed with the oil are absorbed by the filter. Otherwise, the oil will spoil quickly

Second, organic fungi and bacteria inhibit the growth of these engines, causing severe damage.

Thirdly, various metallic particles are absorbed by the cylinder and engine bearings and sent back to the good oil bearings.

And absorbs the mud/sludge created by the engine.

A broken filter is enough to spoil the performance of a bike’s engine oil.

So all the bikes whose oil filter is changeable should be changed regularly. 3000 km in the case of Mineral. And in the case of synthetics, a filter should not be used for more than 5000 km, it will get better performance of the engine oil and the consistency of the performance of each oil will be maintained.

FAQ

What Does An Engine Oil Filter Do?

An engine oil filter plays a crucial role in retaining the quality of the oil by filtering out small metal parts that may be present in the oil. This helps to prevent the oil from spoiling quickly.

How Does An Engine Oil Filter Prevent Damage Caused By Organic Fungi And Bacteria?

Organic fungi and bacteria can cause severe damage to engines. An engine oil filter inhibits the growth of these microorganisms, thus helping to protect the engine from potential harm.

Can An Engine Oil Filter Help Protect The Cylinder And Engine Bearings From Metallic Particles?

Yes, an engine oil filter is designed to absorb various metallic particles that can be present in the oil. This helps to prevent these particles from reaching the cylinder and engine bearings, thus maintaining their integrity.

How Does An Engine Oil Filter Handle Mud Or Sludge Created By The Engine?

An engine oil filter is capable of absorbing mud or sludge that may be produced by the engine during its operation. This helps to keep the oil clean and free from contaminants.

What Happens If An Engine Oil Filter Is Broken?

If an engine oil filter is broken or malfunctioning, it can significantly impact the performance of the bike’s engine oil. It may lead to a decrease in oil quality and potentially cause damage to the engine components.

Conclusion.

A high-quality engine oil filter plays a crucial role in maintaining the longevity and performance of your engine. By effectively absorbing small metal parts, organic fungi, bacteria, metallic particles, and mud/sludge, the filter helps retain the quality of the oil, preventing it from spoiling quickly and protecting your engine from severe damage. A well-functioning filter is essential to ensure that your bike’s engine oil performs optimally and remains in top condition.
