The performance of the bike is usually an indicator of whether the spark plugs are good or whether it is time to change the spark plugs.
Bikes that have an engine indicator light usually tell you when it’s time to clean or replace the spark plugs.
Still, the spark plug needs to be taken care of by monitoring the condition of the spark plug during the regular check-up of the bike.
Spark plugs are a very important part of any car or bike with a combustion engine. Basically, it is used to properly control the air-fuel mixture ratio in the combustion chamber of the engine.
And in addition to keeping this mixture ratio right, spark plug care, spark plug cleaning, and spark plug change are very important to keep the engine power supply right.
Today we will cover spark plug care, cleaning, changing, and other details.
Why a spark plug is so important:

Taking care of the spark plug is involved in the protection and uninterrupted performance of the engine. Keeping spark plugs clean is important because:
- The primary function of the spark plug is to transmit power to the engine by creating a spark in the engine’s air and fuel mixture. Uncontrolled sparks can cause any accident, besides impairing engine performance.
- A good amount of heat is generated inside the engine during spark generation. This ensures that the amount of heat does not build up too much or that the amount of heat generated is not too low, and the engine fails.
- Proper fuel supply is required to get proper performance from the engine. And for this, taking care of the spark plug is necessary to ensure that all the cylinders of the engine work properly.
- The spark plug ensures that the engine’s fuel flows properly. When it malfunctions, the engine can emit harmful hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and other toxic substances.
- Spark plugs are necessary to maintain engine life, and keeping these spark plugs clean is even more important. Because it controls everything inside the engine, including spark control, heat control, and the proper supply of fuel, if if broken, all the functions of the engine are interrupted.
How do you know if there is a problem?
The performance of the bike is usually an indicator of whether the spark plugs are good or whether it is time to change the spark plugs. Bikes that have an engine indicator light usually tell you when it’s time to clean or replace the spark plugs. Still, the spark plug needs to be taken care of by monitoring the condition of the spark plug during the regular check-up of the bike. A spark plug problem can be diagnosed in several ways.

-If there is a problem starting the engine,
- If the engine misfires, that is, all the cylinders of the engine do not get the spark fire simultaneously,
-If the rate of increase of speed of the bike decreases
shakes or vibrates while the engine is running
- If the fuel efficiency decreases, that is, if the bike consumes more fuel than required,
-In case of excessive smoke emission through the exhaust
How to check if the spark plug is ok

There are a number of ways you can monitor spark plugs if you want to take care of them. All you need to do is perform a simple test to check the condition of the spark plug.
- Remove the spark plug from the engine and inspect it for cracks or other damage. Also note its color. A good spark plug is usually light brown in color when clean.
- Observe the gap between its center and ground electrodes with a filler gauge or spark plug gap tool. If the gap is more or less than the manufacturer’s specification, adjust it.
- Do the spark test. For this, remove the spark plug from the engine and place it on a clean surface without paint on the engine. Then start the engine and see if the spark is being given. A bright blue spark will appear if the spark plug is clean. And if you see a weak orange spark, you need to change the spark plug.
Conclusion
As you can see, the spark plug is one of the most important parts of motorcycle maintenance because it keeps the engine running.
