Have you ever wondered if there is any difference between car and bike engine oil? I was very curious about it. I always thought both were engines, working almost the same. Engine oil seems to do the same. Maybe there are many like me. It’s been on my mind for quite some time, so I’m sharing with you what I got after doing a little study on it.

Not all oils are created equal. This is especially true of car and motorcycle oils. For beginners, it’s natural to think that changing the oil in your car is the same as changing the oil in your motorcycle. Using the wrong oil can seriously damage your motorcycle. Although the oil process may be similar, the purpose and composition of the two oils are different.

Let’s have an idea of what types or grades of oil are available.

    Mineral oil

Crude oils found in nature after refining are used to run car engines then they are called mineral engine oils. No chemicals are added to mineral engine oil. Only the oil that is found naturally is refined and used. Mineral engine oil is usually obtained from crude oil.

    Synthetic oil

Oils that are highly refined and formulated with essential chemicals to ensure the best and highest performance of the car engine are called synthetic oils. Chemicals added to synthetic oils are added to increase engine performance.

    Semi synthetic oil

Semi synthetic refers to a mixture of synthetic and mineral oils. That is, engine oils that contain both natural and synthetic oils are called semi-synthetic oils. Semi synthetic oil is mainly made by adding synthetic oil to mineral oil to increase its performance. However, in the proportion of mixing of these two types of oil, the maximum amount of synthetic oil is 30%. The remaining 70% is mineral oil.

Now coming to the main question, why car engine can not be used in bike and biker in car.

Car or bike engine work is close. And their engine oil work is almost the same. If the work is the same, why can’t one be used over the other?

In fact, the structure of the two engines is different, and the function of engine oil is also different.

As you can see, one of the main functions of engine oil is to keep the engine cool and lubricate the engine. But the heating or cooling requirements of a bike and a car engine running at the same time are different.

Again, the density of engine oil of the same grade of bike and car varies wildly.

So using a bike in a car or a car in a bike is like drinking poison.

So, before taking any decision about the bike, check the honors manual first.
