Gears are one of the most important parts of a motor bike. The gear basically acts as a switch to transfer engine power to the wheels. When you are changing gears and doing it normally, then there is no problem. But if there is any kind of noise or knocking during gear change, then it should be understood that there is a problem somewhere.
Today we will discuss, why there is a bad noise while changing the gear of the bike and what is the solution? There are a number of reasons why a bike can make noise while shifting gears. We will discuss some of the most important and most common reasons among them, so let’s get started

If the clutch lever is not fully pressed
We know that during gear shifting one pinion of the clutch plate engages with the other pinion. And holding the clutch lever fully means turning the power of the bike’s engine to (0), so that the gear shifting is completed in a healthy manner. So if you don’t fully depress the clutch lever, which will happen, the engine will lose some power. If you change gears in this condition, it is normal to hear bad noise from the engine. And if you regularly do this wrong thing, your clutch plate will wear out very quickly.
This is why you have to fully depress the clutch lever every time you change gears and then change gears.
If RPM is high
There may be noise when shifting gear at high RPM.
If the RPM is high, always try to lower the RPM of the bike while changing gear. It will take about 1/2 second to depress the clutch lever and the RPM will drop. Then change gears. You need low gear and high RPM to climb a bridge or slope. So you start by getting into the right gear before you hit the slopes.
Sometimes not possible while moving. Whether you are cornering or overtaking is a different matter. But that happens sometimes.
If the clutch lever is not properly adjusted
If the bike’s clutch lever is not adjusted properly, it can cause noise during gear changes. Because if it is not adjusted correctly, you may be holding full throttle but the engine is losing power and not getting as much power as it needs.
The freeplay of the clutch lever will normally be 10-15 mm. If it is more then the clutch and throttle will not adjust properly.
Normally it will vibrate every 500-800 km. Better to adjust it every time you service it.
If the clutch plate is damaged
When shifting gears you hold the clutch lever fully down, shift to low and your clutch lever is properly adjusted. But even after that there is bad noise during gear change. So?
Then you must understand that your bike’s clutch plate is worn out. If you do a lot of city riding or riding in jams, your clutch plates will wear or wear out quickly. There is no specific time that it wears out after 1000 or 500 km. Its stability depends on the efficiency of the shipment.
Try not to shift gears too often and not to squeeze the clutch lever. It is absolutely impossible on city roads. Since it is out of your control, when it seems that there is a noise during gear shifting, you can go to a service point and get it checked. You can change the clutch plate if needed.
In the beginning, it is a bit difficult to change the gear while riding the bike or to run the bike by shifting the gear well.
But, the truth is, it’s a very easy job if you have a mild understanding of bike clutches, pickups, and gears and can practice. Then you can get into the right gear at the right time on your own accord.
