The space in the fuel tank is also an important part. This gap helps prevent temporary organic compounds from leaking in case of volume expansion. Also the temperature of fuel pump stations is much lower than the environment. Fuels can expand when the temperature rises.

Automobile companies provide different amount of fuel tanks in each car. There are many people who fill up the entire fuel tank at once to avoid the hassle of refilling the fuel repeatedly. But recently this practice is correct?

A few days ago the Indian Petroleum Dealers Association submitted an information to the Legal Metrology Division. It is reported that the service manuals of two-wheelers and four-wheelers mention incorrect fuel tank capacity.

The Petroleum Dealers Association claims that the fuel tank capacity information given in the service manuals is 15 to 20 percent less than the actual volume. This fact is unknown to most people.

According to the concerned circles, as a result, the car owners may face accidents. The central government has issued these guidelines to maintain the safety of motorists and passengers and prevent accidents.

What happens when the fuel tank is full?

The space in the fuel tank is also an important part. This gap helps prevent temporary organic compounds from leaking in case of volume expansion. Also the temperature of fuel pump stations is much lower than the environment. Fuels can expand when the temperature rises.

On the other hand, gasoline fuel requires sufficient space to generate vapor. If that space is not there, engine performance may suffer. Moreover, if the fuel is impure then the amount of hydrocarbon pollution also increases. In this case, if the car’s fuel tank is completely filled, it may cause leakage in the tank and may cause the tank to explode.

Bike and scooter riders as well as four-wheelers tend to fill their fuel tanks to 100 percent. Which can lead to major accidents for the driver and passengers. Hence, the Union Ministry has advised the car companies to take necessary steps to make consumers aware of this.

In addition to not filling the fuel tank 100 percent, petroleum dealers suggest that the fuel lid of a car or bike should not be opened unnecessarily. The lid should be opened only during refueling and when the vehicle is serviced by an authorized agency.
